Trail Activies

Smoky Lake provides a staging area and all the amenities that could be expected of a progressive rural town. There are motels, a hotel, restaurants, service stations, grocery stores, and other retail outlets. A Recreational Centre, and a Health Care Centre are also available. In August, Smoky Lake has Stampede and Heritage Days, and at the end of September, it hosts the Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off. The historic Victoria Settlement is situated some thirteen kilometres south of Smoky Lake on the North Saskatchewan River. It is accessible by Secondary Highway 855 or by snowmobile on a winter only trail.
