Waskatenau is an excellent staging area for the traveller who wants to start at the westernmost end of the trail and go east to any of the other staging areas. The Waskatenau railroad trestle is an engineering marvel that is a must-see. A new walking trail goes from the trestle and winds about the village. The RCMP Memorial Statue and the Pine Creek Post Office are also attractions the traveller should not miss.
